Sponsorship Opportunities Newton Conservators 50th Anniversary Annual Meeting and Silent Auction
The Newton Conservators, a non-profit land trust, has protected over 350 acres of land in Newton since its founding in 1961. This year we are raising funds to support our land acquisition program-our work to save appropriate Newton parcels, like those abutting conservation land or along the Charles River-from future development. We need funds to keep our important work going. Right now we are working with homeowners to protect a beautiful two-acre parcel abutting conservation land. While we are able to draw on our in-house expertise for these transactions, funds are needed to offset some of the upfront expenses of protecting this kind of property-such as appraisals sufficient for IRS regulations and various fees-as well as for the future monitoring of the property. We also need your support for our efforts to protect our parks and conservation areas. As examples, last year we used our funds to commission an effort, along with the Newton Parks & Recreation Department, Friends of Nahanton Park, and Newton Community Farm, for a study to ensure that any new uses of that beautiful park will not alter its important habitat and current uses. We also published an updated Trail Guide, a great favorite of our members.
We expect about 100 members to attend the annual meeting, as they have for many years. Would you consider sponsoring the event or donating an item or gift certificate for the silent auction?
If you are interested in being a sponsor or donor, please sign and return the appropriate form by May 1, 2011. We will provide an acknowledgment of each gift for tax purposes. I hope we can count on your support for this special event. Sincerely, Jane Sender
